Multimodal Interaction

Project description

In the Project KOMMIT we aimed at fostering the competences of vocational IT students in using the Social Web for knowledge acquisition, knowledge construction, and knowledge exchange.
Within the project, first we developed a conceptual framework concerning skills for a reflected use of the Social Web (Kammerer, Oloff, & Gerjets, 2015). Based on the subskills defined in this framework, we constructed a set of computer-based, interactive tasks to test these subskills. We used these tasks in an empirical study with vocational students from the IT sector, in order to test their skills in the use of the Social Web in school or professional contexts and to identify respective deficits (Kammerer et al., 2015). Based on the study results, training modules were developed, applied in pilot projects, and evaluated in an empirical study. The training modules (in German) can be accessed here: training module 1 „Information Evaluation in the Social Web“ http://www.kommit-projekt.de/tm/tm1/; training module 2 “Up to Date with the Social Web” http://www.kommit-projekt.de/tm/tm2/.
In addition, we developed a self-test for assessing Social Web skills ( http://kommit-selbsttest.appspot.com/webstudy.html?id=selbsttest01#). Both the training modules and the self-test have been integrated into the “Social Navigator”, a specially designed information and support platform (see https://navigator.kommit-projekt.de).
