The application of Social Software in E-learning

Social Processes Lab

Duration

open ended

Description

Within blended learning, both e-learning and face-to-face-learning are combined in a didactically expedient way. The combination of various digital and non-digital elements in blended learning scenarios enables to benefit from the advantages of the respective settings and methods. Learners, for example, appreciate the possibility to appoint learning place and time themselves. With solely online presentations, the problem areas of shortcomings in self- and time management as well as missing social exchange arise. Through the integration of social software elements into the e-learning phase, new possibilities of mutual communication among the learners are generated. In this way, the formation of a learning community can be supported throughout the e-learning and face-to-face phases. The project attends to the question how the exchange amongst the learners can be overall cultivated for these phases.
