Project

MIRROR – Reflective Learning at Work

Knowledge Construction Lab

Duration

July 2010 - June 2014

Funding

European Union (within the 7th Framework Programe)

Description

The overall objective of MIRROR is to empower and engage employees to reflect on past work performances and personal learning experiences in order to learn in “real-time” and to creatively solve pressing problems immediately.

This will be achieved by complementing personal and organisational learning environments (which mainly rely on knowledge being explicitly available) with highly personalized MIRROR applications for individual, social, creative, game-based as well as organisational reflection and real-time learning: MIRROR will enhance reflective learning by collecting supportive historic information and thus augmenting the personal memory as a basis for the reflection activities on an individual, group or organizational level. MIRROR will also provide - within a so-called AppSphere - a bundle of real-time learning applications that can be used within a collaboration platform within a company. The applications will be designed to foster creativity, engage people to share experiences for learning, reflect the experiences, and help individuals to learn on the job from others.

KMRC will provide a psychological and pedagogical background for MIRROR, especially regarding the interplay between individual (participants/users), technology, and the organization (testbed organizational level). It will be heavily involved in the conceptualization of the reflection model and conduction of user studies to establish a scientific and methodological common ground among the project partners, as well as in determining the effectiveness of MIRROR-applications.
