Dr. rer. soc. Jürgen Buder

Jürgen Buder studied psychology at the University of Göttingen (diploma 1995). From 1995 to 2000 he worked as research fellow at the German Institute for Research on Distance Education (DIFF) in Tübingen. Between 2000 and 2008 he was employed at the Department for Applied Cognitive Psychology and Media Psychology of the Psychological Institute at the University of Tübingen. Within this context, he worked as scientific coordinator of the executive management project in the DFG-Special Priority Program "Net-based Knowledge Communication in Groups" (2000-2002), and as assistant professor in the department (2002-2008). He received a Ph.D. in Social and Behavioral Sciences (2002). Since December 2008 he works as senior research fellow at the Knowledge Media Research Center. His field of work is the conceptual design of the ScienceCampus "Informational Environments". In his research he investigates cognitive and social processes in social navigation, as well as computer-supported collaborative learning.

Research interests

group awareness and social navigation; computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL); human development, learning, and education on the Net; theories of shared cognition.
